Badass!
Cool — I can actually see the sound of my voice!
It looks great on the iPad!
Love it,
Can i output to vga?
I am playing a gig on the 29th and would love to put this on the projector.
Thanks,
Bill
VGA output is being added to 1.1, currently in beta. I’ll email you the info to get access. The update won’t be on the App Store for a couple weeks.
Also, if you have an iPad 2, screen mirroring might work.
Does this support video out? I’d like this visualization to show up on my Kenwood DNX-6980 (which has the new “app mode” button) I can see ANY video as long as the app supports video out
Video Out will be available in 1.1, here’s the full list of compatibility:
-Devices: iPhone 4, iPod Touch (4g), iPad 1&2
-AV Cables: HDMI, Composite, VGA, Component
I haven’t specifically tested docks like the DNX-6980, but I assume it should work as the Video Out uses standard Apple APIs.
Sweet, will there be a split mode option? The perfect setup would be having visualizations on the external screen, while you can still hunt around for the next song to play on the iPhone at the same time. This means it should be smart enough to have the external viz in landscape mode while the iPhone is still portrait. I’m really surprised PocketTunes or Wonder Radio doesn’t have any Visualization options. You guys are the only game in town so far. The ultimate visualization would be the open source milkdrop if you can add that! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MilkDrop I’ve seen some team port it to Linux. (google ProjectM) The final thing missing is streaming audio. I mostly listen to BoysTownLive.com dance radio. Any way to add streaming? It’s too bad the native iPod app won’t play streaming stations.
The way it’s set up is when you start video out, the visualization is shown only on the external screen (no small preview window or full screen mode available). The app continues to operate as normal with controls over playback, options, etc still accessible. The video is in normal orientation, and does not rotate with the device. The local screen also gets locked in portrait/landscape/etc when using video or full screen modes.
Streaming audio will only be available if supported is added in iOS; currently only local library access is allowed. There is a low quality workaround, which is to stream music in a background app and use the microphone to pick up the sound from speakers.
Also, MilkDrop is awesome.
Video Output update is now live on the App Store!
Dddff
I’ve got myself some component cables and I can only output at 720×576
Is this a system limitation?
I like this Music visualizer, it was just what I was looking for. However, almost any kind of song I pick, it will not play.
I goto play music, choose a song, click done. Then it shuts down and is on the doc app of my ipad2. Then I have to choose a mother one and the same thing happens again.
Thank you for your comment.
If you don’t have it already, try upgrading to version 1.2. This fixes a bug with certain music files.
If there is still an issue, please provide me with the following information, and I will look into it immediately:
- Which iOS version you are running.
- File format of a song that causes the problem (e.g. mp3, 44.1khz, 16-bit, stereo)
this is like a resurrection of Sonique!! i cant beleive it man!
The first version it let me play mp4 files and now with the new version it docent let me play them.. I add them and they i try to played and the app just close it everything a mp4 play next … Can u fix it please like the first version was
Every time I play mp4 file the app it closes
We’re working on it! Expect a fix in about a week.
Nice thanks this app it’s aweson ..good work!!!
Hi, this app is exactly what I was looking for. However, one question that decides if I buy or not. You state that it has iTunes support, presumably this means that if I play a song through my iPad and have this running it will ‘dance’ to whatever song I play through iTunes on my iPad? Does it also do this for any third party music apps that I play music through such as Tango?
Thanks
iTunes music is supported via the in-app “Play Music” button; you select songs from your iTunes Library and they are played by the app’s own music player. Unfortunately, it is not currently possible to support other apps’ music such as internet radio or voip.
There is a workaround in 1.3 if you’re using speakers. Rabbit Hole will no longer interrupt background audio as long as it’s in Microphone Mode, so you can play streaming radio and have it pick up the sound to respond via microphone.
This app makes my Kicker ikick501 look awesome! WOrks perfectly with the docking station on ikick. Brings out more life to my iphone! Great job! Keep it up!
Love your APP! It rocks! Are you in the process of adding a script on next or future update to where it can repeat the whole playlist instead of one song? Thanks
The repeat button should work on the whole playlist. I’m not sure why it would repeat only one song. Shuffle mode will re-shuffle every time the playlist is looped, so it’s possible to get the same song twice in a row if it’s at the end of one shuffle-order and the beginning of the next shuffle-order.
Dude when u going to fix so it can play ma music videos ??? Last version use to play my music videos!!!
Are you still working on this? Are you bringing anything new to the app in future?
Either way, absolutely awesome app and about damn time someone gave us a working visualizer.
Thanks.
Darron
New version just released today! There are at least 2 more updates planned, through the end of the year. Mostly the new features will be more options and control, but there will be some minor tweaks to the animation itself also.
Cool got the update, just waiting for my video cable to come from China then it’s 42 inches of goodness.

Only problem there is with the app:

Great review! Those were some great selections to demo the beats with
What was the problem you linked?
it’s just the front end:

When you switch from potrait to landscape the menu looks skewed.
And thats it, thats the ONLY problem!
It did put me off (first impression) but of course once you run it with music… it’s amazing.
I cannot get the video and audio to work when I hook up my hdmI cable to the tv it freezes. Any ideas?
Visualizers always intrigued me. I was so impressed with this one, I made a web app to help promote Rabbit Hole.

Guys – this app crashes and closes on my iPad as soon as I select the video out mode – it correctly identifies the video out connection, then I select the only option of 720x 560 omr something, then it crashes. Can i have my money back please or else could you fix this
Thanks
Chris
What kind of video out connection are you using? I have tested most types of cables but could have missed one configuration. Could you also provide me with other details such asyour iOS version, iPad model (1 or 2), etc? I will try to get this fixed before the next version.
Same thing is occurring for me when I go to plug in the hdmI cable. It freezes and does not allow me to choose.
Very nice viz.app!!
Would you make a MacOS version?! If you would, it seems to be possible to visualize a streaming audio content without any ‘magic tricks’ with mic and speakers.
Both PC and Mac versions may be looked at next year. Streaming audio content as you describe would work great on those systems.
By the way, I’m hoping to get my component cables very soon, then I’ll be able to create hd video for you.
New video if you want to embed it:

If I got a HDMI cable could I then output to 720p?
The iPad should support 720p with the digital AV adapter. I haven’t tried it myself, but beta testers report that HDMI works well.
Component cables max out at 720×576 according to Apple’s specs.
Composite is the lowest quality, and is a big step down from component. The resolution is similar, but the signal is interlaced, which can make straight lines look irregular.

Good idea. It’s working great!
Diese App ist super !
Spielt Musik auch über Bluetooth !!
Bitte ( Please ) auch für Appl-TV Air-Play
Really enjoy your app! Having some trouble though. Won’t play some songs. Will play a string of three or four then will have to skip three or four before it will play again. Hope you can resolve these issues.
Happy New Year!
I absolutely love this app, after using it for a few days, I’m now getting errors saying it can’t “read” the songs. Hardly any of them are playing now. I’m on an iPad 2 with recent iOS 5 update. Thanks.
Has anyone else come across this in 1.5?
So far it’s only been reported on iPad, but there aren’t enough reports to rule out iPhone and iPod Touch devices.
Great visuals but when I go to connect the iPad to the tv the program freezes with the available tv output selection on the screen???
What version iPad and iOS software do you have?
I’ll look into this ASAP.
I just purchased 1.5. I am getting the same error as above whereby it says that it can’t read certain songs. Also, I cannot TV out to my cinemin swivel. If it’s connected when I launch the app, the app starts up then shuts down after 2 seconds. If I connect it while a song/visual is playing then I hear the music through the swivel for about 1 second before the app shuts down.
I found something that might help.
According to Cinemin’s website, the iPhone 4 isn’t directly supported (“iPhone (1G, 3G, and 3GS models)”) by the regular 30-pin/3.5mm connectors.
The Composite-to-3.5mm adapter should still work though. This would connect to your iPhone via an iPhone4-to-Composite cable such as this one http://store.apple.com/us/product/MC748ZM/A
Composite connection supports 480i resolution which is standard def TV quality.
BTW, I am using the app on an iPhone 4.
Thanks for the report. I’ll see if I can get a swivel to test on and let you know if I find a solution
